i’ve been to this place for 4 times already but the enormousness of the place (compared to my own country’s airport) never ceases to amaze me. i could not help but stare at the looming dome overhead.

every morning, there’s this woman outside the hotel that practices some form of martial arts with a sword. sometimes she’s even in full attire like the one in the picture.

view from Over The Rainbow
SWFC Observatory Deck
100th Floor SWFC Building
Century Ave., Shanghai, China

paying the 150RMB to reach the top 100th floor of the SWFC building in Shanghai is probably the single most expensive item i paid for during my stay in China. but the magnificent view from atop the 5th tallest building in the world was well worth the price.

Metal Calligraphy
Yuyuan Tourist Mart
Shanghai, China
July 3, 2011

located in Shanghai is the Yuyuan Tourist Mart, a vast commercial district surrounded by authentic chinese-style architecture and filled with numerous stalls and shops selling various products ranging from jewelry, food, clothes, arts and crafts, souvenirs, and electronics.

one stall there that got my attention was one that sold metal calligraphy trinkets. your name or any other word or phrase could be written using copper wire and sold for 15RMB per chinese character or 8RMB per english letter. each character took only about 2 minutes to make.

MYGirl Immortality Milk Tea
Hangzhou, China
June 19, 2011

near the hotel we stayed in during our trip to China, there’ s this place called MYGirl that sells coffee and milk tea. it had different flavors of milk tea but the one that got my interest was one called Immortality Milk Tea.

so i tried it.

i don’t know what was in it. but it did not taste good. i can’t even completely describe what it tasted like. it was bitter with a hint of sourness and something else that did not taste right.

and i don’t feel any different.
